We use PRO premium deluxe pads manufactured by L. Pisoni from Italy. They are of a very HIGH QUALITY. Made with specially treated woven felt and very strong water-resistant brown leather and plastic reflector.
Blue tempered needle springs and fine quality imported felt and corks.
Putting your saxophone back together is the most labor-intensive part of the setup process. Each key is meticulously reassembled. The pads are leveled and diligently checked for any potential leaks, one pad at a time. The key venting is optimized for even sonics and accurate intonation. The pad height is set to your personal specifications. And the spring tension is adjusted for an even feel and quick action.
Finally your saxophone is play-tested and spot-checked for accurate intonation. Enjoy the confidence of knowing your saxophone is being set up by a shop whose staff actually plays the instruments they work on!
Repairs charged @ R900.00 per hour, with a minimum charge of R450.00 including VAT.
Emergency Repairs:
Done while you wait, re-straightening, re-alignment to bent keys, re-seating pads, replacement of spring, etc. charged @ R1100.00 including VAT per hour.
Please note: Due to the varying condition of instruments received for servicing, maintenance pricing is determined according to the instrument’s overall condition and the labour required to restore proper playing condition. Final quotations are based on assessed service levels following inspection. A quotation will be provided after inspection.

| Check, adjust and repair as necessary. Removal top palm keys, clean tone holes and remove all corrosion. Clean pads and replace pads if necessary. Remove bottom Eb key and remove corrosion and clean tone hole. Clean pad and replace if necessary. General alignment & re – straightening to keys. Re – setting & re – seating pads to main action. Tightening and securing keys, pivot screws and shafts. Light lubricating. | |

| This entails restoring the instrument to a good responsive condition. Repair as necessary: springs, missing corks, soldering, re-straightening keys, twisted bell, removal of dents etc. Removing keys, removing all corrosion and foreign matter. Cleaning and polishing. Oiling hinge tubes and shafts. Regulating, resetting and alignment of keys and action. Replacing pads springs and corks as necessary. Re-setting and re-alignment to keys and pads on main action. General tightening and light lubricating to keys. Assemble and lubricate. | |

| Removal of all keys, worn pads, old corks and springs. Complete key work and tightening i.e.: swedging worn hinge tubes and removal of any play between pillars. Hand burnishing methods that restore the action to a like-new performance level. For very old saxophones or badly worn keys, a new set of silver steel shafts may be fitted. Removal of all dents, re-straightening twisted bell and body, solder any loose or broken pillars and keys. All tone holes are checked and correctly levelled where necessary. A thorough cleaning and polishing of all keys, rods, pivot screws, tone holes, body surfaces and bore. Replace all pads, corks, felts and springs. Key work is carefully balanced, regulated and aligned. Instrument is then reassembled and lubricated. | |
